Gunfight creates panic near Cuernavaca

In the Emiliano Zapata municipality near Cuernavaca, Morelos, a confrontation between gunmen and federal agents on December 14th created mayhem in the streets.

The events occurred around noon, only a few meters from a kindergarten and the city hall. Parents, motorists, vendors, and pedestrians were left in a state of terror and confusion.

The municipal police closed the streets to passing vehicles as citizens found cover.

The criminals were successfully arrested, but parents later expressed concern that such violent clashes are now occurring in broad daylight, with the risk to the public resulting in demands for the strengthening of public security measures in the municipality.
